Making Math Relevant and Engaging

MathFinder’s video-enabled site explorations and soon-to-be-released mobile app inspire learners by showing them that math is everywhere. The app and videos give educators a unique set of tools to help students engage with mathematical concepts outside of the classroom environment, demystifying math and encouraging lifelong learning.

Why MathFinder Works

MathFinder makes math visible by tying it to the environment that is all around us.

MathFinder makes math relevant by defining it to include patterns, geometry, and scale.

MathFinder engages and inspires learners by encouraging them to ask their own questions.

MathFinder is a collaboration between the non-profit talkSTEM and Southern Methodist University, with funding provided by the National Science Foundation. Our partner sites for Math Walks include some of the Dallas area’s leading arts, learning, and cultural institutions.

Putting Learners in Control

Next on our roadmap is the launch of the MathFinder app, which will gamify the process of completing Math Walks. The app will also empower learners to use augmented reality to create their own MathFinder challenges to be solved by others.
